Com alt comp sys palmtops pilot I bought one of those great Logitech Mouseman-Wheels yesterday and then spent two hours trying to install it. I have no idea what that has to do with my Palm Desktop. Palm Desktop won't install :-(
Also, you need to install it to a SD card. Preferable a 512 Mb min. I got it installed on a 128 MB but it's just for one state and a little bit of two other states which works perfectly for me. Also, when you use the TomTom desktop, it will only recognize the SD card as a "device". It won't if you try to hot sync

Palm Desktop won't sync with it either. My inclination was to think the hardware was damaged, but when you open up the infrared control panel it seems to detect my mobile phone as a device in range. It just won't seem to communicate with it. I'm running Mac OS 9.1, though I did briefly install OSX and subsequently

Solution for Palm users performing a HotSync operation with WindowsXP
Now, I have it plugged into the USB slot (have tried both, since there are two), I have an Athlon 850 based Windows 98 system, I've checked the manufacturer's site and run all the patches (which failed to find any problems - I haven't had any other USB gadgets). The desktop won't read them. You restored the todo.dat, address.dat, datebook.dat and memopad.dat files to your, presumably new Palm Desktop, and none were readable? That probably won't apply to the final. I hadn't explored the custom install (since my purpose was to run the Palm portions)...thanks for that information. And anyway, the easiest way to "import" Palm data into Entourage is to simply install the handheld sync conduit, and then sync. Bummer. All syncs fine with Entourage, however when I try to install Avantgo or Vindigo, the install does not work because Palm Beta 4 stores user into in folder locations that are different than previous versions of Palm Desktop.
